Location
Las Piedras is a river in south east Peru, part of the catchment area for the Amazon basin. It meanders for more than 600km from its origin at Alto Purus, through majestic rainforest with beautiful riverside scenery- huge river cliffs and beaches, waterfalls and green canyons. The Las Piedras confluence with the Madre de Dios River is close to the capital of the region, Puerto Maldonado, which provides the closest access by air. Visitors to Las Piedras therefore arrive in Puerto Maldonado, and all tours with Las Piedras Amazon Tours begin with reception at Puerto Maldonado airport. There are daily flights from Lima and Cusco.
